VERMONT
~ Home to The Gaia School of Healing & Community of Gaia VT ~
In Southern Vermont our beloved 10 acres of land is bursting with plant friends everywhere we walk! Our community of seven is enjoying our daily dance in the gardens with the plants, growing vegetables, harvesting wild edibles, and tending beloved medicinal plants. We are blessed to have four of us working daily in the gardens, seeding, planting, weeding, watering, and harvesting. This season we have planted many fruit trees, berry bushes, created new vegetable beds, and are continuing to add onto our medicinal plant beds.
On the last full moon we created an herbal labyrinth for meditation and prayer, and we have begun filling the sides of the paths with lavender, white sage, holy basil, sweet annie, calendula, mugwort, chamomile, st. john’s wort, echinacea, astragalus, and borage. A red tailed hawk was buried at its entrance, and more plant allies will be planted in the coming days. We are already feeling its magic! This season we are looking for WWOOFers interested in permaculture and joining us as we dance in the gardens this summer!
CALIFORNIA
~ Calling on land for us to steward in Topanga, California ~
In California, Community of Gaia is in the visioning stage. We are calling in land for us to steward; feeling it may be in Topanga Canyon. We envision scattering native wildflower and medicinal seeds, restoring wildlife, and raising a yurt for our Sacred Plant Medicine courses. Much like our sister school in Vermont, we would like to put our permaculture and biodynamic practices towards nourishing the land and growing medicinal plants and organic food for our community. As an educational center, we will invite the
participation of our community so others may learn how to live sustainably in our region and share their skills and talents. Our commitment is to make Earth Medicine accessible to all and we hope to serve the greater communities of Los Angeles and partner with schools so our youth can share in healing the Earth and themselves. We are sowing the seeds for creating sacred gardens ~ a place for the land to heal and for people to heal, a sanctuary for all living beings to connect to deep nourishment.
