The History of Flora Sagrada

Nestled in the jungle, unreached by any road, grows a tropical garden and permaculture farm. The land had known generations of villagers who had made it their home after migrating from Jamaica in the 1800s. With them, they brought their lore, their legends, their medicine and their wisdom. Two hundred years later, there was but one villager left, and an oasis of tropical fruit trees cultivated by a new owner with a dream of a sustainable future.

There, two herbalists gathered around a steaming pot of herbs that they poured and shared with a circle of students. They prayed with the trees, kissed the leaves, dug the roots, dreamed with the spirits of the land. They listened to the locals, and learned new applications of herbs they knew well, passed from grandmothers to daughters. They fell deeper in love with the spirits of the plants. They witnessed the students transform with the plants. With reverence, they recorded the wisdom the natives and the plants revealed. There was so much healing and wisdom to share with the world. The Sacred Flora of the rainforest was so potent, medicinal and magical, and so eager to infuse and heal all who welcomed her. Sage and Marysia heard the call to make this medicine available to all people in need of these plants. They answered the call by birthing Flora Sagrada; Sacred Plant Botanicals from around the world.

The deep rooted wisdom of medicinal plants and their people exist across the globe -- from the tropics of the rainforest, to the woodlands of New England, to the mountains of Siberia, to the deserts of South Africa. There are countless love stories that have endured thousands of years -- and we have witnessed these plant-people relationships to hold the roots of medicine for humankind. It is our passion to find these stories and plants from their most sacred source. It is our way to make our practice and business sacred and sustainable -- nurturing these timeless relationships, honoring the plants and their people. We are called to make sacred plant medicine accessible and to serve as vehicles that carry the knowledge on,  through the plants themselves, and through education. We are here to serve the earth, her people, these sacred plants, and the ancient traditions of medicine.
